This was the second Café Church held at St Johns and was led by Rev Jeremy Trigg, Over 50 adults and children attended. The congregation were greeted by young helpers who took their orders for food and drinks. On offer were bread baps filled with bacon and sausage, accompanied by tomato and brown sauce as well as coffee, tea and orange juice. After the notices were read out and a hymn sung, the food was distributed very efficiently by our helpers. Thanks go to Sue Short for cooking the food, to Pip Garside for providing the bread baps, Jenny Gordon for making the tea and coffee, Julia Russell and Caroline Sullivan for helping to serve the food and doing all the washing up afterwards!
Rev Jeremy provided everyone with a general knowledge quiz which proved a challenge and there was much hilarity!
Several young people led the prayers and the service finished with a hymn. The regular birthday slot was almost forgotten but at the last minute “happy birthday” was sung. It was a very enjoyable and successful service.
