A packed village hall enjoyed a fascinating evening on Tuesday 29th October listening to Piers Storie-Pugh talking of the many attempts to escape from Colditz Castle where his father Peter had been incarcerated as a POW from late 1940 until liberation in April 1945. The beautifully researched presentation included many “then and now” photographs which captivated the audience.
The event was organized by John and Cheryl Salmon, but before introducing his friend and former regimental colleague John thanked Pip Garside for her help in publicizing it, Sue Short and Jennifer Barker for providing the delicious pre-lecture canapés and Ken Barker for organizing the bar.
Just over £877 was raised for the Church Fabric fund, and we are grateful to all who supported this venture.
